Hi all, does anyone know of good sail repairers in the midlands area. i want to replace the luff rope on the Hyde main on Sweet Dreamzzz. Basically just to a smaller diameter. I know Stu Hogson used to do it, but not sure now ??? Stu are you there? if no repairers around does anyone know where can i buy the bolt rope from for a bit more DIY.

we used speed sails, or pinbax

Unfortunately I'm not currently in a position where I can offer my sail repair services. The best bet for a decent repair would be HD sails (Jim Hunt and Andy Davies) www.hdsails.com (http://www.hdsails.com) They are based somewhere around the birmingham area.
Another option would be www.peakdinghy.co.uk (http://www.peakdinghy.co.uk) They are based in Chesterfield and offer repairs but do not have experience in sail making so not a great option if your after any modifications or anything other than small patches.
As a final resort there is always P+B www.pinbax.com (http://www.pinbax.com) but they're generally expensive and no better for repairs than anyone else.
There are actually a couple of others in the midlands that I would recommend avoiding but i'll not name and shame.
Hope that helps

Bob Suggitt has turned Loco's sails round super quick twice and it's just down the road from me (kind of)
He has all the high tec sailcloths there. He's at the loft from around lunch time to early evening most days but I think his mobile number is on the site.

bob has made some quick sails in the past for the classes he sails.

Bob has won the Lark nationals twice...once with his wife and once with his daughter - a nice story that
-
I'm sure he was the guy who repaired my sails after the Largo Bay Nationals final day incident he did a cracking job and dirt cheap too

HD sails in Birmingham did a great job for me. well recommended. Interestingly he was using some new cloths for OK sails (dacron...yes dacron... maybe the new black... you heard it here first...).
