Hi Guys.
Does anyone have an excel with area equations pre programmed so it just requires the dimensions plugged in.
I'm trying to work out how much sail area i need to lose to be legal for the nationals.
thanks

No but divide into triangles and use this? Make sure you look at the sail measurement rules tho' eg rounded corners (clew) are measured to an imaginary point which would be the angle of the triangle.

Google free sail design software.. Theres a program somewhere there called "sailcut CAD".. Very simple but can calculate areas, if you cant find it drop me the dimensions and I'll get it to do it.. (Think I dropped this link before somewhere)

Here's one I did back in 97 rule days. If you're measuring a squaretop you'll need to consult a measurer on how they approach measuring them, because the base method only really works well for sails with a single continuous leech curve. As ever with excelspreadsheets no gurantees of accuracy...

Thanks. That's exactly what i was looking for.
