Cherubs are joined by the Moths, Canoes and Foiling 600's so should prove to be quite a spectacle.
Generally a well attended and very well run event so get yourself along. Camping is free in the Weston Field so there is no excuse!
-
So who's coming?
Slippery is going to be there and we're hoping that it will be a little warmer than easter.
Are people camping if the weather looks good. Do we want to organise a barbeque or is the term 'organise' a little bit optimistic.
-
Well I'm hopefully crewing for Dave if I have replied to his e-mail in time. I think a BBQ is on the cards if it's possible to get it organised.
-
I will be heading south with Badgers and Atom on friday night. I think the plan is to camp in the field but if the weather turns bad then I can put some people up at my parents house which is about 30 mins away. I might have to be excluded from the Saturday nights festivities as I have family over from america who I should probably make the effort to see! I think last year they organised a curry night at the club which was pretty good. I will have a word with Olly Straker and see what is happening this year.
Can we have a head count for boats attending, so far i have Badgers, Atom, Slippery.... come on guys lets make this a good'un as its getting nice and warm now!
-
Roz & I will be there in Ronin 2698
-
Great news Pete. Look forward to seeing you there! You sure you've got enough carbon on the t-foil this time? :P
-
Dean and I will be there with Loco
-
Superb!
I'm most looking forward to getting back in the cherub having not sailed it since Kielder. I've been a bit busy doing 12 foot skiff, Kestrel and Osprey opens! Let's hope for some wind!
-
Born Slippy is already at Weston and waiting.
H&I finished the telescopic bow sprit and lobbed the T-foil on the back today. Boat felt good - strange to sail a cherub in no wind and not be bored (I had a new bit of string to pull on the tiller) - must get back to work or H might find evidence that I have wasted time in the office checking out this forum thingy....
-
Well this is all looking very pleasing. We could have 10 boats which would be awesome!
-
I have evidence of:
Cheese Before Bedtime
Pocket Rocket
Dangerous Beans
Which I think is ten!
-
I can confirm my attendance with Dangerous Beans, it will be nice to get out on the water again having handed in my dissertation two days before!
It will also be the first time ill be attending a Cherub event at Weston since I joined the club in 2005!
I will have to check with my flatmates re. their exam times etc, but I imagine that if camping in the field isn't suitable floor space can be arranged at mine about 10 mins away from the club.
-
mmm i have to confirm i shall not be attending as my crew is fratinazing with his misses or something equalling as crap an excuse probably for the best as 90% of the fleet wouldnt understand a word i said like pet.
-
Boooo Neal, boooo :'(
On a slightly more serious note, Hoppys crew is gonna need a trapeze harness this weekend so could everyone bring any spare harnesses to weston so we can find one which is good please ;D please confirm if you have a spare so i will know whether we need to ask elsewhere to find one! cheers

Anyone fancy putting a preview about Weston on the news page of the site?
-
Shiny will be there woith a Ross on the front end.
Lara's mum had the cheek to have her 60th birthday at the same time as Weston!
The usual accomidation rules apply if thats what people want.
-
i've put up a preview on the site. didnt have any exciting weston related photos so its not hugely exciting i'm afraid! I was hoping i had the photo of Christie asleep face down in Suicide with his bike on top of him but I couldnt find it! >:(
-
We thoroughly enjoyed the event. I need to work on starts in the windier weather since we were left behind on a couple of ocasions. We were really happy with our upwind speed being able to pace some of the 2005 rules boats. I think where we often gained was by taking more to use the shifts towards the windward mark.
Oddly downwind we appeared to be more competitive in the lighter conditions on the saturday and not the windier conditions on the Sunday.
A big thanks to everyone turning out and making the event such a sociable weekend as well as a great racing event.
is anyone doing an article for yachts and yachting? has anyone got any photos?
-
There was a camera boat but I'm not sure who was piloting it. I've not really got time to write a report, but if someone could mention our port tack 'flier' (or plodder) in race 2 on sunday that would be great ;D
-
Also worth noting is that Born Slippy got so fed up of making the wrong decisions that she decided to follow Shiny. Only when the wind died on the approach to the shore at Weston did we finally conclude she was heading in ;-)
-
haha, extreme banging of the right corner then!
-
I hope you all had a great time at the weekend: I did!
Ten boats was a stonker of a turnout with better things to come as none of this years boats in build has hit the water yet.
The write up needs to be sent to Y+Y by the close of play tomorrow, and DSM similarly I think. Their "fifteen boats for the paper mag" rule seems to have been broken by the six boat turnout for the 12 foot skiffs, so we may have reason to be optimistic.
In the mean time, can everyone who reads this put a posting about the event up, preferably with a bit about the racing and a bit about other things please? That way I can assemble them into a write up tomorrow, when I am at home revising.

I thought after proving my lack of fitness in atum this weekend I should actually join the forum and say Hi.
Was really good to see the old faces i knew - gav and patrick.
And was good to be out sailing ;D Cheers Hoppy!
