Evo is very keen to be at this one. The thought of sailing from the Cove again leaves a warm glow...
-
This sounds like a good one ( I thought all the entries were full when I looked earlier in the year, unless that was still last years message on the website). We may go to this one, as we will be missing the two June events due to moving house.
-
Entries very much still available, but I would suggest getting an entry in soon as places are fillling up quickly
Could this be slotted into the program as a 'Travellers Event' in place of Royal Victoria (assuming the weather forecast stays the same for this weekend)
-
I was already tempted by this and if a traveller event I would be even keener mainly because it would encourage more Cherubs to attend
-
The only issue I have with this being a replacement travellers, is 1 - would be nice to ask RV first if there was any suitable date for a rerun, and 2 - If entries get full and someone cant enter, thats not really on. Other than that, I'm cool and am intending to go.
-
If re-run at RV is possible...yes, would go for that.
Depending on things, may go for Weymouth too
-
According to the notice of race there is no entry limit. Entries do close on Wednesday 11th July though, so no entries on the day.
If we can get enough boats there this year we could propose that we get our own start next year if everyone enjoyed it.
Let's get a few boats entered soon to get a bit momentum going
-
is this the right entry form ?
http://www.weymouthregatta.co.uk/enter/enter.shtml (http://www.weymouthregatta.co.uk/enter/enter.shtml)
-
Yes correct entry form. I have entered under the asymmetric class
-
Entered - so people know it doesnt want the money now, I presume you have to stump up on the day.
-
do you have to let the club you are launching from know or will that be sorted out by regatta organisers?
Quite keen for this one.
-
Graham. I think you get an email asking you to pay by cheque or bacs. I don't think you are fully entered until you have paid.
Ben I think all visitors will launch from Castle Cove, this is indicated on the entry list next to your entry
-
Gents the headline from Weymouth is ENTER ONLINE, preferably sooner rather than later.
In a previous mail they mention that online entry only is available and they have in previous years turned boats away on the day.
From Weymouth comittee.
Roland,
Thankyou. The reason for online entries is so that we can plan resources - we run 2 dinghy courses out in Weymouth Bay so need to know approximately how many boats are coming. People can pay by Cheque or cash on the day. If people do not turn up because of an unfavourable forecast then it is our loss - it has not been a problem so far!
Looking at entries - we have 3 Cherubs already entered.
Hope to see you on the 14th July for a sail on Olympic waters 2 weeks before the main event.
Paul
-
We are entered as well. - 4 so far.
-
Atum will probably enter, I need to talk to the crews union beforehand though.
-
I will be there. Somehow. Race is on to rebuild the boat in time!!!
-
Team Loco are up for this
-
Gents. Expresisons of interest are good. Putting your name down on the entry list better!

-
Indeed, but I don't think I am allowed to race single handed :P
-
Loco has entered
-
Any tips on where to camp?
Parking looks likely to be an issue(?)
I have the Camping Club Big Sites book
Nowhere is cycling distance from Castle Cove(?)
I have neighbours who holiday in Weymouth frequently and have recommended a site in the past...but they are in Weymouth(!)...can ask them when they get back
-
We did Weymouth Regatta in the 12 a couple of years back - great event. Parking was tight at Castle Cove but most people found a spot on the last 200m of the approach road to the club. The dinghy park is also very tightly stacked, i.e. there is very little room for rolling boats onto their side for rigging. However, there is a gate in the left hand corner of the boat park (as you look at the water) which leads down to a small beach which is ideal for rigging and launching. Just watch out for the submerged outcrop of rocks on your left as you leave the beach - Havoc ripped her foils off on them on the way back in! We stayed at the Trelawney B+B which is walking distance to the club. Campsites were all a car ride away.
-
Hopefully I will be back at work by then. Dr. signed me off for two weeks yesterday (will also be a 2 week ban from boat work).
For memory's sake we have selected the "Old Castle Hotel". I think it is the place I first ever spoke to Mr. Tinner.
-
Look after yourself Roland, hope you're back up to full speed soon
-
Atum is entered
-
I think that's 6 Cherubs...excellent
-
You're not showing on the entries page Ben, might want to double check ....
-
Yeah I only just entered...they have to check through the entry before they put it in the database
-
Six Cherubs on the entry list now which is fantastic, lets set a target of 10, double figures always sounds so good !
Thornbury boys ? only one entry so far, come on lets get this year pumping !
-
We may do it - though likely to be a final day entry depending upon forecast. If a windy weekend predicted we have a 200 event to go to to stetch our legs further before heading off to Garda the following week.
-
EJ will be there I will be there the front is looking light at the moment but thats why E5's have fat asses.
I will find someone to do the hard work while I sit at the back and relax.
-
Cool. I'll keep banging the link on this one. The Weymouth regatta they need numbers and names ASAP, and will collect cash when you arrive in person.
It is better to enter and withdraw than wait for the perfect point to commit and find you have missed the opportuity.

-
With 8 Cherubs now entered,I think its reasonable that this event is now a travellers event, replacing the cancelled Royal Victoria event earlier in ther year.
-
Dean can't make this one but if any one needs a crew or crew/ship combo I'm around.
-
Doh!
If only you had said last week.
How did the move go?
It would be good to see you in Weymouth one way or another.
-
It went slowly and painfully but all ok now were in. I may still show up at this one if some drops out or I can find a driver.
-
Are we heading out into town for a curry/other or eating at the club? Would be keen to let the organisers know (personally curry).
-
I already signed up to the hog roast, I like to support the club; probably have a cuzza later...
-
Hog roast for us. Good to support the club.
-
I've also booked in for Hog roast but I will gladly go out for a curry afterwards.
-
Booked into B&B, places are being snapped up fast so if you want to be near other Cherubists while you snore and haven't booked then the one that Clive is booked into still has 3 double rooms available. No twins unfortunately.
http://www.souwestlodge.co.uk/ (http://www.souwestlodge.co.uk/)
0.5 miles from Castle Cove sailing club.
£60 BB for 2.
Also If you don't mind sharing a family room with Stu and I then we have a spare double bed in our B&B.
-
Eleanor will be there, race entry done, accomodation booked, guest helm helm sorted ( cheers stu)
-
That's great Si, see you Saturday. We're at the Old Castle I think, so close to the club.
-
..... a bit late now (sorry been away), but if anyone is still looking for accomodation, I stayed at a good campsite/b&b a few weeks back, reasonably local to the club... http://www.swallowsrestselfcatering.co.uk/page13/campsite/campsite.html (http://www.swallowsrestselfcatering.co.uk/page13/campsite/campsite.html)
..see you all there!!
-
So we have 11 entries for this weekend. Have we reached critical mass to persuade any fence dwellers?
-
Shaping up to be a great weekend - 11 Cherubs (at least), a nice looking breeze and it might just be dry on Sunday...
Start is around 1pm on Saturday - so we even get a lie in!
-
Loco can't have a lie in >:(
So that I do not over stress my poor harassed family we will leave at 8am, which might cut it fine for the first race. ETA 11:30
-
We have fallen to class persuasion (well Roland) plus a work trip being cancelled means we are a very late entry for this weekend. Jill has just been texted to bin her after school shopping trip and get herself to QMSC for boat packing instead!
-
Hi,
Just a note to GB who has Sam's trapeze harness and buoyancy aid.
Anytime during the weekend is fine as we are single wiring only, at least on Saturday.
Thanks mate,
Nigel

Really glad to hear that and well done Roland...and Jill for missing out on shopping...or was it just the supermarket run? ;)
