Anyone know of a foam supplier who will be happy to sell partial sheets? I only need enough for a rudder blade. Preferably in the Bristol area.

John Hamilton Ltd.
I have lots PM me

With respect John the lareg sheet of brown foam that you bought for the build of your boat was not HD. It appeared close to 80kg /m^3.
You may have bought more since.
I put a post a year ago on the forum to say that impag of dursley had been bought up by an other foam supplier. I can't recall the name at this point.

Think these guys are the sole distributor of the 3M foams.

I bought some Airex from them last year. Good customer service, quick delivery. Seemed a reasonable price.

ive bought some substantially higher density foam Mr Kirk!!!! after our experience i thought different stuff was needed for the centreboard (which is still in one piece, despite groundings, and two people bouncing it :)

Sorry John. I just wanted to make sure that as a class we only make a mistake once by sharing best practice with members.
I'm glad your current Centre board is working well.

Dont worry pal!!!! I know what you meant, hope all is well with you and sarah

The last few rudders made by us (and I think Will for Aunti) used the pink and green foam. This would be 120-80 and certainly not as dense as the 180-200HD foam we also have (a darker green).
All of our "high aspect" lifting horizontal bit of foils have been made from 8mm sheets of "standard boat making 80 Airex".
For CB's the pinch by the case is the significant factor. For this either special measures (extra laminate/stringers) or high density foam appears to be needed to avoid it pinching and then buckling in at the exit to the case.
