Finally underway
-
looking good
-
Very neat indeed. A weekend well spent.
-
Another burst of progress, hoping to keep it going this time :)
-
Fantastic!
-
These mouldings are awesome. I suspect that they have cut out so much of the build time and they look excellent. Very nice Paul :)
-
Wow - what a machine!
-
She's looking great Paul. looking forward to the sticky weekend.
-
That sail at the end of the nationals done the trick lol
-
Now in one piece thanks to Rolands help
-
Excellent progress paul.
You are almost showing off with your collection of G clamps but very worth while to get clamping pressure even around the hull deck joint.
I look forward to seeing it at the sticky weekend.
Any chance it could be ready by March?
-
thats the coolest way of putting a cherub together, like ever!!
-
You can never have too many clamps
-
Nice work PC, no pressure, but we need a new boat to display at the Dinghy Show, gives you about 4 months, if you work all through Christmas and New Year you should manage it :)
-
Progress a bit sporadic but now ready to start making it look pretty
-
Looks fantastic PC - 4 working weekends till the Dinghy Show - can you give me a % likelihood of this boat being showable ?
-
It looks pretty already.
Nice work so far but there is a lot of work to do.
Are you planning to cross deck the rig from Antidote or have you got that sorted by another means?

80%, being out of female moulds, not much fairing needed before spraying,

Yes but there is a major mismatch with the colour schemes so will be using other sails for the show
-
If you paint her lime green and put anti's sails on you could call her tik tak- then get sponsorship from a certain compass manufacturer.
-
Or paint her orange and get sponsorship from a major mobile network.
-
Painting done, name decided based on my first thought when I ripped of all the masking "Marmite".
-
Very cool looks amazing i see you've gone for a fixed gantry with a pivoting stock any particular reason or just personal preference
-
I really like my tiller extension based string T foil adjustment system but I it would be better without the additional load of trying to push a lifting T foil down when adjusting it at speed
-
very cool
-
Good job Paul. Looks beautiful.
-
Yes very nice. Marmite is an apt name.
The painted/carbon look is really nice. Now both E6's have the strip of carbon showing on the aft beams. could be a design trade mark.
Will look great on the show stand and will probably clash with everthing else we have.
Now if there is a chance to get it on the water then we are at least in the running for the best boat in show again.
I know that is an ask given the time left and I do not expect it to be achieved.
-
Sorry, don't think there is much chance, getting wet or best boat.

Paul, as you know, I think she looks storming. And I like marmite ;D

That boat should be in an art gallery... awesome

nice job! i love it ;D
-
Yes - what a machine!

Umm, first Cherub all from female moulds is a bit of a claim... I wouldn't want to bet there weren't any in the 60s and 70s made out of chopped strand c***p. First foam sandwich, yes that probably is true, certainly in the UK.
-
The main reason for the claim of first Cherub from all female moulds was made on recent knowledge of 97's and 05 rules boats. Paul's boat uses moulds to make the forward beam/bridge structure, spine and gantry and i believe aft beams as well as hull and deck.
Jim, you've picked the potential flaw in my claim that some of the earlier boats could make that claim with only a deck and hull moulding.
-
Quite a few bistros were made from a female HULL mould.
Icterus had the look of an all-female mould job - but that was 1970+.
Anyway - it is the first recent boat made from all female moulds - and v nice it looks too!
-
I'm afraid the Subtle knife was built from female moulds, including the bridge deck. Unfortunately the bridge deck mould didn't last at all well and I don't think the replacement that I made that Hartleys for boat #2 used lasted very long either! It was a very silly shape to be trying to make. . .
-
Indeed, the Badger was all female moulded, Hartley had their pattern maker build a new bridge deck mould for the build.
Other than those 2 it's defs the first recent one though ;-)
-
what ever happened to the cardinal sin mould?
-
Its with Matt Burrows who has Catananche. Do you want it?
-
There are no words. My face hurts from grinning so much. Marmite's maiden voyage and Eleanor at Chew today - absolutely storming. Photos and video to follow.
-
What a cracking sail yesterday, Paul she is an absolute credit to all your hard work.
-
What a good half a days sailing! and what a machine!

I'm still buzzing. Paul, you must be on top of the world. For a boat to work so well the first time it hits the water is more than impressive. I feel truly spoilt to have had a ride. We LOVE Marmite!

eleanor looks awesome in this
-
paul, who made your sails, the mainsail looks awesome!
elanors spinnaker is pimp!
-
They're DS sails.
i had a sail in Elenor which was fab. The kite is quite flat when compared with the fyfe cut but unlike the old caws shape you can allow them to curl and then sheet back on. In comparison to the E5 the ride is much smoother and the boat accelerates from displacment to planing modes smoothly without trying to chuck you offf the back end. It felt planted and safe. Because the ride is smooth it didn't feel like we were going so fast. I may be worth sticking a GPS on for the trials to show the true speed.

DS are Dynamic Sails - www.dynamicsails.com (http://www.dynamicsails.com).
Dave has done a fantastic job in a very short turnaround for us.
-

Will see what I can do with the video...
