Sad loss today : aquamarina disappeared in flames

Last night Gilles's garage totally burnt with aquamarina inside.

All the family is safe but nothing to keep about aqua.  Hoppefully his 700 is safe except the sails 

It's a sad loss for Gilles and for the french Cherub community as aqua was one of the most sailed boat.

This is a terrible loss to the class! I am glad that the family are safe. Let's just hope the insurance pays out so that they can build a new boat.

That is a real shame, I cant beleve it is gone.

It's a real shame. I can't even begin to imagin how I would feel if this happend to FS.

Maybe save a bit as a contribution to the ashes trophy?

Not sure about adding to the Ashes as they already have their own place in Cherub folk law...

How about, making a new Ashes, to the equivalent nature of the Cricket Ashes. Each year the top British Cherub and the top French Cherub battle it out to take home the Ashes prize. The competition can be held in Britain and France on alternate years just so there is no home advantage! Doesn't have to be serious, just a bit of fun and another trophy to hand out!

May as well try and make the best of an otherwise incredibly bad situation

This is sad sad news - poor Aqua.

I am sad for Aqua, but very glad to hear that no people were hurt.

Aqua went straight to Valhalla though: A vessel all cherubbists will remember with pride and happiness.

I send my condolences to Gilles. He had Aqua looking amazing again after "you know who" had shafted it. That boat truly was one of the good'uns.

I am, however, very pleased that no one was injured.

Really glad to here you are all ok.
How are your other boats and the very cool camper.
I am really sorry that the Cherub experience has been so tough for you.

Giles...first thing, so glad your family are safe.  It was obviously a big fire which could have been worse, boats can be replaced, people cannot.

However, I cannot even begin to think how sad you must be to lose Aqua...any Cherub is always a very personal thing, especially when you clearly put so much effort into rebuilding it.  It really does seem strange she's just "gone"...dinghies get damaged, or wooden ones eventually rot away, but you hardly ever hear of them just going like that in a fire.

A real shame I never saw your work, however I am glad that I did at least get one sail in her.
