Hi, new here and first post.

Probably the prettiest and most "sorted" vintage Cherub.  I don't think there is a more good looking boat in the country.  The Kiddles did a superb job in the conversion and restoration.  If you want to cut your teeth and like wooden boats then it is a great option.

If you are not set on "the best wooden boat money can buy" and can stretch your budget all the boats on the for sale list are also worth looking at. Please feel free to ask/PM anyone on the list for their recommendations :-)

This boat, "Easy Tiger" (formally "Kokopelli") is a well known and beautiful vessel. Restored in 2004 to something fabulous and well looked after since. A real find.

Despite age and appearances, this boat can still make the jump to light speed.

Enjoy and keep in touch (there is a trophy for wooden boats at the Nationals, so you have something to race for.)

How much would a half decent set of sails cost and does anyone have any for sale ?

I would think you would be looking at about the £1000-1200 mark for a brand new set. I never found a 91 rules set for Flat Stanley second hand that were in better condition than the ones I had.

Yes - two answers to this:

1) Sometimes these can be blagged for little/no cash, when a boat is upgraded and the smaller set are not needed by another cherubbist.

2) Hyde have been doing some incredibly cheap deals recently. (£700 quid for a set I think)

Murphy's set cost less than £800 inc VAT. For reference they were from Hydes and recent, so they will still have the E-cut pattens on file. However, you will need to use the phone not the web site if you want to follow this route and I'd suggest getting in touch with Bruce to test fit before ordering.

I'm sure HoppyBanks will be able to give you a realistic quote as well.

Remeber, knackered looking sails can strangely still propel a Cherub extremely effectively.  I'm hoping someone who has seen this boat more recently will chip in with if she actually needs new rags? My guess is maybe not.

I doubt that there will have been many sets of sails made of the 91 rules size since 1997, so all the second hand sails will be at least 12 years old and so quite tired, however provided they do not have holes that you can stick your fist or anything larger through they will be be OK for blasting around.

If you want new sails, talk to me before you buy anything. I specialise in making custom racing sails for development classes.

You could also get Hoppy to cut down a 97 rules set, he did a great job on giving my main a makeover. Don't know how well a tri radial sail would cut down though.

The name may go back... The colour may also be changed !!! How do you think she would look in pink ?

She is now tucked away in my double garage, had to lean the kids Topper against the wall so she has plenty of room.
