2017 Nationals - venue and date
« on: October 05, 2016, 10:18:04 AM »
All,

An early notification that the 2017 Nationals will be held at Stone SC on the 19th to 22nd August**.  Shared with the 4K's as per the past couple of years.

It is an excellent venue for Cherubs with plenty of space to rig and launch.  There is also camping on-site which I believe is free.

With this much notice there is no excuse not to be there.

** 31/10/16 - Note the slight date change of 2 days

Do we sail on the estuary or out in the bay?

That's interesting.

As the last few events i've attended with the18s (the ones you have missed) have been fine and a very nice enjoyable event and good racing.

Stone is an excellent venue and the club and atmosphere awesome. A great venue in my opinion. Enough space to rig without upsetting anyone or getting in the way of others. Quite a tidal current if there is no wind and high possibilities of running aground is always part of the race course if you are using the corners!

I think in the estuary not far from the club.  At neaps.  Should be plenty of room for a course whatever the wind direction.  If they can fit 18's they can fit us.

I'm looking forward to it.  A new venue for me and one I have heard good things about.

Hold off booking anything just yet.  Apparently the first day clashes with A level results and a date change to the 19th to 22nd has been requested.  Will post confirmation soon.

Sounds great. I've heard nothing but good things from the people who have sailed there a number of times. We'll hopefully be along.

Great to see the Cherubs back on the East Coast, used to be a massive stronghold, I am sure Stone will offer a great all round venue with plenty of great racing, great socials and plenty of opportunity for the spanking paddle - who knows which old guys may turn up !

The clubs website says there is a limited amount of camping on site, does anyone know how much limited means? We were thinking of going on the Friday will the club be open for tent pitching/ bar and maybe a cheeky sail.
