WPNSA are allowing us to launch from their site during the regatta to avoid the need to move the boats from Castle Cove round to WPNSA for the nationals

Entry to Weymouth regatta will initially be by invitation only. CCSC will be emailing cherub sailors who have previously entered the event at the  beginning of June. They have also said that any cherub that hasn't entered before will be added to the email list

To ensure an entry for the regatta please could any boat that intends to enter pm your email address so I can make sure you are on the list

We plan to be down by early PM Friday and go for a sail.  Will leave the boat at CCSC and work out on Sunday PM or Monday how to sail it to WPNSA

Team Slug are going to be down by Friday but sailing from WPNSA - so there'll be at least one other cherub to play around with.

The event is on and sold out - hopefully those that wanted got in - we didn't get an invite and missed it but I'm hoping they will want their trophy back so will let us in :)

Cherubs are sailing from WPNSA for the regatta as well as out nationals - so no issues with moving boats.

The latest new from castle cove is that every cherub that supplied their email address has an entry, he just hasn't found the time to send the emails out yet

Do you know when they are likely to confirm? We need to plan our trip down, and decide about booking a hotel for the Friday night or travelling on Saturday.

Apparently I got third!??
Feel free to add your own thoughts as it all kind of blurs in to one day!
———

Weymouth, weybiza, foil town.
What ever the address; it delivers.

The world beater of the Weymouth regatta strategically placed days before the uk Cherub 70th birthday took place on the 3rd/4th of July.
Being a highlight of the cherub circuit each year, we were delighted to be invited to the regatta because of reduced/restricted number of classes due to... you know... coughy boi.

Saturday was out in the bay it’s a late start, most rigged up for the conditions we had (light winds) but during the wait we heard rumours of 25+ knots outside the walls. Most swapped for small sails.

When we actually got out to the course, it was a lovely 15-18 knots.
For most of the regatta A&E, marmite and Usagi snuck off in front with Eleanor, gravitas and poppy a few boat lengths behind.
My excuse was it was too lumpy got a mere pond sailor.
A squadron of cherubers were dispatched to castle cove sc later that night to keep the bar open and spread stories of past cherub heroics.

Sunday was inside the harbour. Meaning we enjoyed the flatter water.
Again, the front 3 snuck off. The rest of us were closer, trading places and ready to break through to the front 3 after an error.
One of which was a downwind where marmite was 2nd, poppy was 3rd, Usagi was 4th with Andy’s pole right up Poppy’s bung.
Helpfully marmite decided to capsize right on the lay line to the bottom mark meaning she was blocking poppy, Usagi gybed off early and got over the top, poppy had to carry on, gybe, then come in hot after tracing marmites transom.

Most of the stories in the many pubs after sailing had the basic layout of ‘I was here in X place, we were doing so well! Then we gybed and saw a whole armada of scorpions coming upwind, so we had to avoid and that’s where we lost out’ usually followed by said person finishing their drink of choice.

Thank you to WPNSA, castle cove, all the volunteers and helpers, the castle cove bar man and the other classes for making the event what it was.
Thanks
Jamie
